Nearly a week after an accused murderer was apprehended by sheriff?s deputies, the California man is returning to the state that issued his arrest warrant.

At 5:20 a.m. Thursday, Timothy Jacob Ravenscroft was escorted from the Marion County Jail by California authorities and taken to an airport, where he boarded a plane bound for the West Coast.

Following his first appearance before a judge here Saturday, the 22-year-old man said he wanted to go back to California and signed extradition papers.

Ravenscroft was charged with murdering a man who was walking with his girlfriend two days before Christmas. Shortly afterwards, he and his 20-year-old girlfriend, Lacy Ellis, fled California and drove to Florida.

The two were arrested Friday when a sheriff?s deputy received a tip they were in the area and they were spotted at a truck stop off County Road 318 and Interstate 75.

While he would not discuss anything about the alleged incident with a Star-Banner reporter, Ravenscroft did say that he ran because he believes California authorities would not listen to him and only wanted to solve their case. He said he frequently had to look over his shoulder while making his way from California and had little sleep.

Ellis told the reporter they left California out of concern and said her boyfriend is innocent. The mother of a 2-year-old daughter is still at the Marion County Jail, charged with accessory after the fact and providing a false name to a law enforcement officer. Her bond is set at $10,500.
