Letterkenny Institute of Technology is hosting an even bigger Careers and Postgraduate Studies Fair 2012, on Monday 22 October in An D?nlann sports hall, from 12 noon to 3 pm and admission is free.
The Careers and Postgrad Fair is now an unmissable event in the NW for people to find out about job opportunities across a number of industry sectors and explore postgraduate study options.
This year there are even more, employers, colleges and voluntary organisations exhibiting. The ever popular CV Clinic and Jobs wall will once again feature.
The event is a valuable resource not just for employment but also advice, organiser Catherine Lyster Careers Officer at LYIT says ?We will be holding free seminars on topics like interview tips, studying abroad, how to dress to impress as well as running our CV clinic with a panel of 5 experts, just bring your CV with you on the day. Plus we?ll have the Jobs wall with current jobs listed.?
Over 50 local and national organisations will attend from the IT, Food, Business Science sectors. Some well known companies taking part include; Pramerica, Intel, Allstate Northern Ireland, Mulrines, GES Solar Ireland, global leader in construction and maintenance services for the wind & solar industry, specialist recruitment agencies and many more. Smaller businesses looking to recruit top quality staff for permanent, temporary and part-time opportunities will be there too
Referring to the mix of exhibitors this year Catherine explains, ? Whilst times are more challenging, we are seeing employers who are actively recruiting in areas such as, IT, renewable energy, food sectors and agriculture. This event offers people the chance to talk directly to potential employers, professional bodies and to postgraduate education providers. Anyone who is looking to find employment, change career or is considering further study should definitely come along. All are welcome.?
For those considering postgraduate study, representatives from prominent universities and colleges throughout Ireland will be attending to offer advice on their range of postgraduate study options.
In addition to full-time study, many courses can now be completed on a part-time or distance learning basis. Universities taking part include Queens, University of Ulster as well as universities from the UK.
Voluntary work is also a useful way for job seekers to develop valuable skills and many well known voluntary associations will be there. Graduates can update themselves on the range of work placement programmes on offer, such as the IBEC EOP programme.
For people thinking about a career change or who would like to explore their career choices, expert advice will be offered by the professional bodies taking part. Some of the associations who will attend include Engineers Ireland, the accountancy bodies, in Ireland and Nursing Careers, as well as voluntary organisations such as The Donegal Volunteer Centre.
